About This Attraction

The Qiangba Buddha Hall is located on the west side of Tashilhunpo Monastery. There is a large bronze Buddha statue of Qiangba in the hall. This Buddha is the largest bronze Qiangba Buddha in the world. Qiangba Buddha is called Maitreya in Chinese Buddhism. Buddha, in Tibetan Buddhism, Jampa Buddha is the future Buddha in charge of the future, so it is very valued by believers. The main hall was built in 1914 by the ninth Panchen Lama, Qu Ji Nyima. In the main hall, Jampa Buddha is squatting on a 3.8-meter-high lotus pedestal with his face facing south, and the entire Buddha statue is 26 meters high. It took 4 years to cast the entire Buddha, and a total of 110 craftsmen were used, using 6,700 taels of gold, 230,000 catties of brass, and a large number of diamonds, pearls, amber and other treasures.
