Mangshi, which means "City of Dawn" in Dai language, is the capital of Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province of the People's Republic of China. It is a typical border county with ethnic minorities mainly Dai, Jingpo, De'ang, Achang and Lisu. Mangshi has rich ethnic customs and beautiful scenery. It is known as the "Hometown of Peacocks" and "City of Dawn" at home and abroad. It is the hometown of "Zhafang Rice", a tribute rice for the imperial palaces of all dynasties. Mangshi is the window to the west of Yunnan, the window for cultural exchanges between China and Myanmar, and the gateway for economic benefits between China and Myanmar. It is a transportation hub, a distribution center for commercial materials and a border port leading to Ruili, Longchuan, Yingjiang, Lianghe and even Myanmar.
